Satoshi Tomiie

Tokyo-born and New York-based, Satoshi Tomiie trained in jazz and classical piano before his debut single, Tears, co-produced with Frankie Knuckles in 1989, became a house classic. In the early nineties he toured as keyboard player for Ryuichi Sakamoto, and his remixes reached artists from David Bowie and U2 to Mariah Carey. The album Full Lick in 2000 took his sound somewhere darker and more hypnotic, and with Hector Romero he ran SAW Recordings. He releases on his own Abstract Architecture imprint as well as A_A, Yoyaku and Phonogramme. In later years his work has centred on an all-hardware live set built for DAW-less improvisation, which he first brought to the Selectors stage at Dekmantel Festival in 2025.
