Scorn
Scorn is the project of Mick Harris, formed in Birmingham in 1991 with Nic Bullen, both former members of the grindcore band Napalm Death. The early records on Earache, including Vae Solis with Justin Broadrick on guitar and the remix album Ellipsis with reworkings by Autechre, Coil and Bill Laswell, tied it to industrial and experimental music. After Bullen left in 1995, Harris took Scorn into minimal beats and very deep bass lines close to dub and trip hop, a sound that later marked him as an early originator of dubstep. Albums followed on Hymen, including Greetings from Birmingham and Plan B, and on Ad Noiseam and Ohm Resistance. Harris revived Scorn in 2019 and performed it live at Dekmantel Festival in 2022.
