SKY H1
SKY H1's debut album Azure was a genre-busting statement that built on all the sounds she has absorbed since the start. Drum and bass, techno, grime and dubstep inform the rhythms, while her own life experiences give the record its rich emotion. Next to club music for labels like Creamcake and PAN's sub-label Codes, the Brussels artist has written for galleries, films and concerts, so she is adept at making sound that works in a range of settings. Her mixes strike a balance between potent drum breaks and heady ambient design: tracks float through the cosmos then come banging down to earth on a bed of heavy bass, as suited to deep thought as to the dance floor. Finding emotional nuance among physical sounds is what she does best.
