Tahira

DJ Tahira spent two decades as one of São Paulo's most respected DJs and collectors before basing himself in Florianópolis. Where most Brazilian diggers lean towards American funk and soul, he follows the country's own lineage as part of the African diaspora, tracing Afro-Indigenous rhythms and their contemporary echoes. His compilation Levanta Poeira, released in 2018, was named among the year's best reissues by NPR, and Brasil Novo followed in 2023. His remixes and productions have come out on Far Out, Wonderwheel and Wah Wah 45s. He has played Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, Boiler Room, Sónar, Lot Radio and Worldwide FM, and his sets are built on the pleasure of sharing a find.
