Tala Drum Corps

Tala Drum Corps is Utrecht producer and DJ Tijmen Lohmeijer, whose alias grew from his initials and a love of playful percussion. He started dancing at eight, came to music through dance training, b-boying and popping, and his debut EP Parade arrived on BAKK in 2019 after a chance meeting at Clone Records in Rotterdam. His tracks pit natural, primitive sounds such as birdsong and hand percussion against machine bleeps, a strange mix of tribal electro, downtempo and new age ambience, and his mixes lean on nineties oddities from across the globe. He is part of the Utrecht station Stranded FM, where he hosts Rites of Harvest, and has worked as a guest programmer at EKKO. He played Dekmantel Selectors in 2021.
