Kerstin Egert was born in Mühlhausen and moved to Berlin in 1990, where she started DJing in 1993 at Drama, a Kreuzberg bar that was one of the few in the city to book DJs. From 1994 she held a residency at Tresor for a decade, and from 2001 she played the Dance with the Aliens parties at Ostgut. When Ostgut became Berghain and Panorama Bar she became a resident there, and she took the name Tama Sumo in 2004. Her Ostgut Ton releases include Play Up and Brothers, Sisters with Prosumer in 2008 and the Panorama Bar 02 mix CD in 2009. With her partner Lakuti she runs the Berghain parties Your Love and Bring Down the Walls, which centre guests from Black and LGBTIQ+ communities.
