Teqmun

Teqmun is Tijmen Blokzijl, an Amsterdam DJ and producer who is also a molecular plant biologist, and the two pursuits feed each other. His records for Nerve Collect, Flippen Disks, Traumgarten and Sann Odea move between IDM, breakbeat techno and bass, with crisp organic textures set against snappy, driving drums, and track titles that give away his fascination with the natural world. The A Man and His Toad EP on Nerve Collect is a good entry point: bass-driven rhythm and futurist sound design in constant motion. He hosts the Microbyome show on RRFM, and has played Draaimolen, Dekmantel Selectors and Dekmantel Festival.
