Terrence Dixon
Detroit's Terrence Dixon, also known as Population One, describes his music as forward-thinking ghetto electronics. He started out producing acid in the early nineties, debuted in 1994 and released several records on Claude Young's Utensil label, followed by two Population One records on Metroplex and production work on Juan Atkins' Skynet album. His 2000 debut album From The Far Future on Tresor set out his minimal, off-kilter sound design, and a sequel followed in 2012. Further releases came on Rush Hour and many other labels, and in 2013 he launched his own Reduction label. His album Reporting From Detroit continued the thread, and his Dekmantel podcast was made entirely from original material recorded on the city's West Side. He played Dekmantel Festival in 2019.
