The Bug
The Bug is the long-running project of Kevin Martin, who moved from Weymouth to London around 1990 and absorbed the city's sound systems, from Iration Steppas to ragga and digital dancehall. Across albums such as Pressure on Rephlex, London Zoo on Ninja Tune and Angels & Devils, he fused dancehall, dub, grime, noise and hip-hop into crushing low-end pressure, working with vocalists including Flowdan, Warrior Queen, Cutty Ranks and Miss Red. He ran the London club night BASH with Loefah, and his other projects include King Midas Sound, GOD, and Techno Animal and Zonal with Justin Broadrick. Under his own name he has released Sirens and Return to Solaris, and Machine was his first solo instrumental album as The Bug.
