The Hacker presents Amato
Michel Amato, better known as The Hacker, started making music in Grenoble in 1989 at seventeen and became one of the architects of electroclash, folding techno and EBM into a cold, cinematic machine sound. His partnership with Miss Kittin produced defining tracks such as 1982 and Frank Sinatra, and the two kept recording together, with a joint album in 2023. Solo he released Rêves Mécaniques, and his records have appeared on Dark Entries, Mannequin, Turbo, Rekids and Phantasy. Amato is his fully analogue live project, a return to roots built around the Korg MS-20, Roland TR-808 and SH-101, presented at Berghain, Nuits Sonores, Off Sónar and Dekmantel Festival São Paulo in 2018. The younger electro and EBM underground treats him as a master of the craft.
