The Mauskovic Dance Band

The Mauskovic Dance Band is a self-produced five-piece from Amsterdam that runs the Afro-Latin psychedelia of 1970s and 1980s Colombia and Peru through no-wave dance punk and space disco. Champeta, Palenque, psychedelic cumbia, afrobeat and picó soundsystem culture all feed a lo-fi, no-wave groove. They surfaced with the Down In The Basement EP on Soundway, recorded a self-titled debut album at Garage Noord with help from Jacco Gardner, and released the Shadance Hall EP on Dekmantel, cut in the Welsh valleys and mixed at Electric Monkey in Amsterdam with tape loops and dub versions. Bandleader Nic Mauskovic also plays with Altin Gün and the reformed Zamrock band WITCH, and forms Bruxas with Gardner.
