Time is Away

London-based pair Jack Rollo and Elaine Tierney, aka Time is Away, continually explore the relationship between time, place and power. They do so in many ways, from exhibitions for Arts Council England to site-specific sound works, research projects and their long-running NTS show. Each weaves spoken-word pieces with atmospheric music into soundscapes that move you physically and mentally. Their exceptional record collection and ability to manipulate mood come through in their mixes: escapist daydreams where gently lilting rhythms melt into psychedelic dub with intimate vocal whispers, Indian meditations captivate heart and mind and lo-fi guitar fuzz lulls you into a hypnagogic state, a delicate but powerful world that reveals more on every listen.
