Umfang

Umfang was born in the Bronx, grew up in Kansas and moved to Brooklyn in 2010, where she co-founded the Discwoman collective. She held a monthly residency called Technofeminism at Bossa Nova Civic Club, built around emerging talent, and her DJ sets play with expectations of what a techno set can be. Her own productions are amorphous and polyrhythmic, released on Ninja Tune's Technicolour imprint as well as Allergy Season, 1080p and SOS Music. She has brought her confounding techno selections to NTS in London, Manchester and Los Angeles, and played Dekmantel Festival in 2017 back to back with Volvox.
