Vatican Shadow

Vatican Shadow is the techno project of multimedia artist Dominick Fernow, also known for Prurient and Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement. It began in 2010 with stems split onto cassettes and re-layered live, the tapes woven together as others would use turntables, and the first release, Byzantine Private CIA, came as a hundred-copy cassette on his Hospital Productions label, followed by ten more limited tapes by 2012. Kneel Before Religious Icons was the first to reach vinyl, followed by the Iraqi Praetorian Guard 12 inch with a remix by Regis, and later records came out on Modern Love, Type, Blackest Ever Black and Ostgut Ton. Live, melodic loops meet martial, jagged drums. Vatican Shadow played live at Dekmantel Festival 2019.
