Volvox

Volvox is Ariana, a DJ and event producer who grew up in Buffalo, New York, where the industrial and rave scenes of the rust belt shaped her view of dance culture. Active since 2006, she helped develop Boston's electronic scene from 2007 to 2010, then moved to New York in 2011 and became a central figure in Brooklyn's techno underground. As a member of the Discwoman collective she pushed for women, queer, trans and non-binary artists in the booth, and she later started the FLINTA NYC event series. Her sets are tough, stripped-back and hypnotic, running from acid house to hard techno and electro, and she has played Berghain, Panorama Bar and De School. She played Dekmantel Festival in 2017 back to back with Umfang.
