Warrior Queen
Warrior Queen, born Annette Henry, is a Jamaican vocalist based in the UK whose voice became a signature of the London bass underground in the 2000s. Her work with Kevin Martin's The Bug runs through the singles Aktion Pak, Dem A Bomb We and Poison Dart and into the albums London Zoo and Angels & Devils, where her fierce dancehall delivery rides his heaviest pressure. She cut Things Change with The Heatwave for Soul Jazz Records and recorded with Sarantis, Kalbata and Sunship. Her voice also appears on records by Skream, Zinc, Mungo's Hi Fi, Schlachthofbronx and Sam Binga, and on Hyperdub's five-year anniversary compilation, a line that runs from dancehall through dubstep to jungle.
