Aquarian

Aquarian makes and plays music that feels familiar but is hard to pin down. His take on techno, jungle, rave and bass blends the Berlin, London and Detroit sounds with something extra that gives it a mutant sense of funk. The Canadian is now based in Germany and has released on Quiet Time Tapes as well as his own Hanger Management label. His sets are studies in rhythm: contorted drum programming and warped bass stripped back to the essentials but constantly on the move. They tend to start twisted and tightly coiled, then loosen up and head straight forward, with electro, ghetto, IDM and drum and bass all chewed up and spat out along the way.
