Black Merlin

Black Merlin is the solo project of English producer George Thompson, who also records with Karamika and Spectral Empire. After eight EPs on labels including Berceuse Heroique, Pinkman, Die Orakel, Mannequin and Jealous God, his debut album Hipnotik Tradisi arrived on Island Of The Gods in 2016, blending ambient, minimal electronica and field recordings of Indonesian gamelan. That year he travelled alone to Papua New Guinea to meet the Kosua tribe and spent two years recording their daily lives, dance customs and wildlife for the second album Kosua on the same label. On Berceuse Heroique the double twelve-inch Void drifts between wave-affiliated techno, cold modular sounds and warm, bleepy ambient. His music has been played on NTS since 2014.
