Tutu

Tutu is Gemma Planell, a Spanish DJ who has built a reputation from the margins, keeping away from the media while her sets travelled by word of mouth. She calls her approach storytelling, and genre means little to her: a set can move from bass house and cosmic trance to abstract grime, acid techno, IDM, ambient and tribal experiments, aimed at the feet and the brain together. She is behind Schizoclub and the Senzu Beans platform, and has played Sónar, Boiler Room and NTS. Her mix for the Female Pressure series used only tracks produced by women. Her Dekmantel Podcast 261 opens with a monologue on silence before crossing neo-classical, experimental minimalism and hellish techno. She played the Red Light Radio stage at Dekmantel Festival 2019.
