"Guitars and sub bass and big wiggly snares - this mix really goes the distance!"

Toronto's Ciel has never stuck to one sound, but what she plays is united by "various shades of dub-influenced electronic music." That is true of Slowburn, the party dedicated to slow chuggers that she has run since 2021, but also the music she's released on plenty of influential labels and the sets she plays across the world. The tempos, the timbre and texture might change as she traverses dreamy downtempo, wiggly tech house or psychedelic techno, but the warmth and sense of atmospheric pressure never do.

This week's mix is about representing all of that in one ambitious two-hour trip, including forthcoming Ciel tracks and releases from the Parallel Minds label she co-runs. "The different styles I play share more in common than what is immediately perceivable to the average listener. I wanted to show both sides of myself in a way that would truly and completely represent my sound," she says of the immersive selections.
