If that's true, Toma Kami is a true sage of rhythm. The Paris-based artist and Man Band label boss defies convention each time he drops a new 12" or one of his famously physical DJ mixes. He bends and toys with drums and bass, twisting and turning them through the worlds of house, techno, breaks, juke and club to come up with something thrillingly fresh and hard to define.

Toma will join us at Dekmantel Selectors in August, but before that comes this week's mix. It is a masterfully controlled but edge-of-your-seat ride through all those sounds and more. At times they are piled up on top of each other to the point of collapse, at others they are teased apart and drawn out to hypnotic effect. These are supple but muscular and physical sounds that make you want to bend every bone in your body in pure appreciation of Kami's unique rhythmic gymnastics.
