After a couple of weeks away to have fun at our Amsterdam festival, we're back with a fresh new podcast.
For this one we hand over to Melina Serser who joins us at Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia this week. A graduate of the legendary DJ Koolt's DJ school, Melina is a talented artist from the fertile Uruguayan scene. She has a passion for unearthing unknown gems for the worlds of downtempo, ethnic, jazz, funk and breakbeat and has played all over the world as a result.
Her selections here show Serser's mastery of the early-evening warm-up or late night lounge world. It's a place where lilting rhythms and all manner of melodies slowly unfurl and cast their hypnotic spell. The churning grooves are dubbed out and fleshy as all manner of details come and go - prog guitars, dark leads, trippy vocal whispers. In these hyperactive times of short attention spans, Serser provides perfectly slow-release pleasures.
