From solitary listening sessions in her living room to unbridled sound explorations in her studio, Mika Oki constantly traverses the extremes of order and chaos.
We visited the Brussels-based producer in her daily environment(s), catching a glimpse of the creative spaces that shape her transdisciplinary work.

What are these spaces?
My room where I collect & listen to my music, LYL radio's studio where I record my mixes and my studio where I do my sonic explorations.
Why do you like to work here?
I like to move between chaos and order, ebullition and calmness. It's something I always deal with in my head and is also visible in my work. Each work needs a different mindset and I feel lucky to be able to choose. My room & LYL's studio are at La Brasserie Atlas, where I live with sixteen other artists and musicians. This place is really fulfilling because of its effervescence but I also like my studio where I can have my own bubble. The studio is at 254Forest, a transdisciplinary space where different fields such as music, performance, digital and visual arts are working.

What are your favourite parts in here?
The sunlight in my room when I listen to music.
My bottle of wine when I record my mixes.
Palo Santo when I’m making music.
If you could add something to this space, what would it be?
Multiple speakers! At least four in each space. And also I would bring my cat to my studio, cause it's the best advisor.
